Frequently Asked Questions
Will a 6x4 trailer fit a Queen size mattress?
A standard Queen mattress is 1.53m wide. A 6×4 trailer is only 1.2m wide internally. You would need to rest the mattress on top of the cage or angle it. For flat transport, we recommend a 7×5 or 8×5.
What is the internal size of a 6x4 trailer?
The internal dimensions are approximately 1800mm (length) x 1200mm (width). This is perfect for garden waste, camping gear, and standard domestic appliances.
Is this 6x4 trailer tipper function hydraulic or manual?
Our standard 6×4 galvanised trailers feature a manual tipper function. You release a locking pin and the trailer body pivots on the axle, allowing gravity to help dump loads like soil or grass clippings.
Can I store a 6x4 trailer vertically (stand up)?
While some lightweight trailers can, our 6×4 is a heavy-duty, fully welded unit. It is too heavy to safely stand up vertically. We recommend storing it flat or purchasing a trailer dolly.
Does the 6x4 come with a spare wheel?
We offer spare wheels as an optional extra. We can mount the spare wheel to the drawbar so it doesn’t take up cargo space inside the box.
How high are the sides on the 6x4 trailer?
Standard sides are 300mm (12 inches). With a cage fitted, you gain an extra 600mm or 900mm of height, significantly increasing your volume for light rubbish.
Can I tow this 6x4 trailer with a Suzuki Jimny?
Yes. The Suzuki Jimny has a towing capacity of around 1300kg. A loaded 6×4 (750kg ATM) is well within the limits of small 4WDs and hatchbacks.
Is the floor of the 6x4 trailer smooth or checker plate?
We use a full steel checker plate floor. This provides grip for your load and is much stronger and more durable than a smooth floor which can dent easily.
Can I fit a toolbox to the drawbar of the 6x4?
Yes. The A-frame drawbar is designed to accommodate a standard trailer toolbox, perfect for keeping tie-down straps and a jack secure.
How long does the galvanising last on a 6x4?
Hot-dip galvanising is a chemical bond. In normal Victorian conditions, it can protect the steel from structural rust for 50+ years, far outlasting painted trailers.
